About Sweet Flies
Sweet Flies is an independent guide to fish finders. We help you match a unit to the boat you run, the water you fish and the money you want to spend.
Our readers fish from jon boats, pontoons, kayaks, canoes, riverbanks and frozen lakes. Many are buying a first fish finder, and many are moving up from an old monochrome screen.
What we cover
Our guides cover boat-mounted fish finders, portable kits, castable sonar and ice bundles from brands like Garmin, Humminbird, Lowrance and Deeper. We sort them by screen size, sonar type, GPS and how they mount.
We also explain the parts that confuse new owners, like CHIRP, down imaging, side imaging and where the transducer goes. Plain words come first, and the jargon gets a short explanation.
How we put a guide together
We read the specs, manuals and maker information for every unit we cover. We also look at what owners report after a season on the water.
Then we compare models side by side and write down who each one suits. Our How we research page explains the full method.
What we don't do
We don't make or sell fish finders, and no brand pays us to rank its products.
Sweet Flies isn't affiliated with Garmin, Humminbird, Lowrance, Deeper or any other maker.
We don't claim to have tested every unit ourselves. When we pick one, we say why, based on its specs, its features and owner feedback.
How we earn money
Some links on this site go to stores like Amazon. If you buy through them, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you.
That never changes which units we pick. Our affiliate disclosure has the details.
